La Russa graduated with a law degree from Florida State and became the fifth lawyer/manager in baseball history. He quickly established a reputation for being one of the best field tacticians in baseball. The pinnacle of his career came when he managed the St. Louis Cardinals during Mark McGwire's unprecedented home run binge, including his dramatic chase of Roger Maris' single season home run record in 1998. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Chicago White Sox" exclusive label and next to this is the "Sand-Knit" label with the size, "42." On the inside back tail is a label reading "82 La Russa 42S" in computer stitch. Adjacent is the set tag, "2." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Sox" in white tackle twill. On the back is the name "La Russa" and below is the player number "10." Both the name and number are made of blue tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the "All Star Game 50th Anniversary" patch. The jersey shows wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
