A two-time MVP and perhaps the best catcher in major league history, Johnny Bench led the league in HRs twice and RBIs three times. His Cincinnati Reds dominated the NL in the 1970s winning four pennants and back-to-back world championships in 1975-76. In addition to catching, Bench played third and first base during his Hall of Fame career. Rawlings manufactured 13 inch XPG6-H fielder’s glove used by Bench. The name “BENCH” is in marker on the back of the little finger and a marker inked lettering of “E-5” on the back of the web crotch. This glove features Rawlings “Edge-U-Cated” heel, H-web with rolled laced top, finger and thumb loops. “Wing-Tip” back and laced strap. A rectangular Rawlings patch is affixed to the lace-tied wrist strap and a “Circle R” Rawlings patch is on the bottom of the back thumb. The glove is dated by the Rawlings dating code of two dots indicating the glove was made in 1982. This glove is accompanied by a LOA from “The Glove Collector” Joe Phillips.
