Archibald was a willing passer and an adequate shooter from midrange. However, it was his blinding quickness and incredible speed and shiftiness that made him extremely difficult to guard in the open court, as he would regularly drive right past helpless defenders on his way to the hoop. Once in the paint, Archibald was a veritable triple threat to pass, lay the ball in or shoot for two points. He was named to the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time team. Nate Archibald was inducted to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1991. We have done an extensive amount of research on this particular jersey, including having long conversations with Herb Turetzky, the Nets Statistician at the time. Mr. Turetzky has never missed a Nets home game. He checked his home programs of Archibald and only found him to wear number “1” at home. However, he was not at any road games, either pre-season or regular season in 1976-77. This jersey shows very obvious use and although we cannot guarantee that this shirt was worn during either pre-season or regular season in 1976-77, we strongly believe that it was. Bob Love came to the Nets mid season that year and wore number “10” from then on. On the right front tail is the "Rawlings" manufacturer's size 44 wash instructions tag. Attached is a flag tag with “1 Inch Extra Length.” Across the front is "NEW YORK" in white tackle twill. Going down the left front are 3 stars in blue tackle twill. On the front and back is the player number "10" in white tackle twill. Across the back is the player name "ARCHIBALD" in white tackle twill. The jersey shows obvious use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
