At the University of Pittsburgh, Hall of Famer Tony Dorsett became the first freshman in 29 years to be named All-American. He finished with 1,586 yards in 11 games. Three games into his sophomore season, he became Pitt's all-time leader in career rushing yards. As a senior in 1976, he helped lead his school to a national title, picking up the Heisman Trophy, the Maxwell Award, the Walter Camp Award for player of the year, and the United Press International Player of the Year award along the way as he led the nation in rushing with 2,150 yards. He was a three-time first-team All-American. Dorsett finished his college career with 6,082 total rushing yards, then an NCAA record. Presented is Dorsett’s collegiate game-used jersey. This is the first time it is being offered publicly as it has been in a private collection since originally being obtained from the equipment manager in the 1970s. On the front left tail of this tearaway jersey is the Russell Athletic manufacturer’s tag size “L” with washing instructions. The player number “33” is on the front, back and on both sleeves painted in navy blue on yellow. Across the back is the player name “DORSETT” stenciled in navy blue. Dorsett signed the back of the jersey in black marker and in our opinion rates an 8. Numerous team repairs are present throughout the jersey including on the front and back as well as football related staining. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by a Photo-Match.com LOA grading the jersey a perfect 10 and a Full JSA LOA.
