Inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991, Fergie Jenkins was a three-time All-Star, won the National League Cy Young Award and has his No. 31 retired by the Chicago Cubs franchise. Jenkins earned his NL Cy Young Award in 1971 by leading the league with 24 wins and throwing 30 complete games with a 2.77 ERA. One of those wins came on August 20th, when Jenkins threw a complete game during a 3-2 win over the Houston Astros. It was Jenkins' 20th win of the season. On the front left tail is a "Wilson" size "44" manufacturer's tag with washing instructions. Below is the year, "1971" embroidered in blue chain-stitching. Inside on the rear collar fold is a strip tag with, "31-71-1-44" embroidered on it in blue chain-stitching. On the left chest is the team's, "CUBS" disc patch embroidered in red and blue stitching on white canvas. The player number "31" appears on the back in blue tackle twill sewn directly onto the pinstripe home jersey. On the left sleeve is the team's logo embroidered in blue and white stitching. The shoulders have been spot reinforced. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use. This jersey is sourced from Chicago Cubs Player and Head Scout Lennie Merullo with a letter of provenance from our consignor detailing its history.
