In 1971, Smith was drafted by the National Basketball Association's Chicago Bulls in the 11th round of the NBA Draft. He was also a 4th round draft pick of the American Basketball Association's Denver Rockets in a separate draft. Smith chose to sign with the Rockets, and he would go on to play for the club for three seasons. In his first season, he served as the backup to point guard Larry Brown while averaging nine points and three assists per game. On the inside collar of the purple and yellow jacket are two tags, size "42" and "4 L.B." No manufacturer's tags remain. Down the front left of the jacket is "DENVER" in purple tackle twill. On the inside waistband of the pants is a size "32" flag tag. No manufacturer's tags remain. "10' is written in the waistband in black marker. Down the side of the pants is "ROCKETS" in purple tackle twill. The jacket and pants show wear and besides having no manufacturer's tags appear to have no alterations of any kind. Accompanied by an additional LOA.
