Luke Jackson played eight seasons (1964–1972) with the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA. A 6-foot, 9-inch power forward who played center occasionally, he was named to the NBA's 1964–65 All-Rookie Team after averaging 14.8 points and 12.9 rebounds per game. He played in the NBA All-Star Game the same season. A teammate of Wilt Chamberlain, Jackson was a starter on the 1966–67 Philadelphia championship team that scissored the Boston Celtics' string of eight straight NBA championships. On the rear inside tail of this treasure is the "Pearson Sporting Goods" manufacturers tag. Adjacent is an embroidered strip tag with “46 31 54 70.” Across the front is "SEVENTY SIXERS." “SIXERS” is done in red on blue tackle twill. The “S” of “SEVENTY” is done in red on blue tackle twill with “EVENTY” in red tackle twill. Below that and on the back is the player number "4" in red on blue tackle twill. Across the back is the player name "JACKSON" in blue tackle twill. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. Not only is this the first style of this jersey we have ever seen, but the first Luke Jackson. It is accompanied by a letter of provenance from our consignor who was an assistant trainer at the time which states, in part, "...the jersey was given to me at the end of the 1970-71 season as the style was expected to change." This incredibly rare style jersey from a hard to find player has been in his private collection ever since.
