The Carolina Cougars were originally a charter member of the ABA in 1967 as the Houston Mavericks. The Mavericks moved to North Carolina in late 1969 after two seasons in Houston and became the Carolina Cougars that would remain in Carolina through the 1974 season. They became the Spirits of St. Louis for the final two years of the ABA. Inside the front button path is the “Rawlings” manufacturer’s tag with size “44”. Adjacent is a wash instructions label with number “23” written in black marker which is typical for ABA warm-ups. At the left chest is the team initials “CC” done in red tackle twill at the center of a red, white and blue tackle twill ABA basketball. Across the back is “CAROLINA” in large white tackle twill block letters. The jacket is properly tagged, was presented to us as worn and in our opinion, shows wear. Accompanied by a LOA from Steve Kramer.
