The 1962 All-Star Game was held in St. Louis, Missouri. West recorded 18 points. West’s West beat the East 150 - 130 and Bob Pettit was MVP. Wilt recorded 42 & 24 for the East. In his sophomore campaign, West averaged 30.8 point, 5.4 assists and 7.9 boards. They don’t make you the league’s logo for nothing. During his 14-year playing career with the Los Angeles Lakers, HOFer Jerry West redefined the word resume. He was the third player in league history to reach 25,000. He was an All-Star every year of his career and led Los Angeles to the NBA Finals nine times. Mr. West left the game holding records for career postseason scoring and the highest average in a playoff series. Many players have been tagged with the nickname "Mr. Clutch," but none of them lived up to it as well as West did. He was responsible for perhaps the most famous buzzer-beater of all time: a 60-foot swish that tied Game 3 of the 1970 NBA Finals against the New York Knicks. West even went on to be an 8x NBA Champ as an Exec. Elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1980 and named to the NBA 50th Anniversary Team. Inside the back left tail is the Rawlings label with size (42) and an adjacent wash tag. Team name (WEST) across the front with player number (44) below that and on the back, and ‘stars’ surrounding the front - all done in red tackle twill. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate wear. There is significant smoke and fire damage, with fabric loss. This jersey was recently discovered at an estate sale along with West’s Olympic credentials and fishing license which do not accompany the jersey at this time.
