An 18 time All-Star, Al Kaline played 22 years for the Detroit Tigers. His very consistent play netted him over 3,000 hits, 399 HRs and 10 Gold Gloves. Inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1980, Kaline is affectionately known to Detroit fans as "Mr. Tiger". This navy blue batting helmet was worn by Kaline during his career with the Tigers (circa 1964). The Detroit logo appears in white on the front of the helmet and on the back the player number "6" appears on a piece of tape, written in black marker. Inside the helmet is a label from the American Baseball Cap with the size 7-1/4. The player number "6" is written in black marker on the inside foam pad. Numerous scratches cover the helmet throughout and the inside padded brim is still fully intact. There is a 3- 1/2" crack on the right side of the helmet.
