In 1956, the NCAA All-Americans, played a game against the world famous Harlem Globetrotters. At the conclusion of the game, Ron Sobiesczyk, representing DePaul University, was chosen as the MVP. After college, "Sobie" went on to play for the NY Knicks in the NBA for four seasons. This 19" x 40", brass, Coca-Cola Bottler Award trophy, was given to Ron Sobiesczyk in 1956. The trophy features an angel holding a torch on top of a basketball. Underneath are four basketball players which have all been restored, each raising a ball above their heads. Just below the ballplayers is a plaque which reads, " Coca-Cola Bottler Award, Most Valuable Player College Player, 1956 All-Americans vs. Harlem Globetrotters, Ron Sobiesczyk." The trophy stands on a wood base and is in very good to excellent condition with a broken wing on the bottom that has been affixed.
