During his 22-year playing career with the St. Louis Cardinals, Stan "The Man" was a 24-time All-Star, three-time World Series Champion, three time MVP and a seven-time NL batting champion. He retired after the 1963 season with a career batting average of .331 and solidified his place as one of the game's greatest hitters. Musial was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969, his first year of eligibility. Musial won his first MVP award in 1943 batting .357 with 48 doubles, 20 triples and overall 220 hits in just his second full season. The offered uniform has been conclusively photo-matched to the 1943 World Series against the New York Yankees. Inside the collar of the jersey is the Rawlings manufacturer’s tag with an attached box tag reading the size “42 REGULAR”. Embroidered on the front middle tail is the player name “Musial” in script and beneath is the year “43” in red chain stitching. Across the front reads “Cardinals” beneath their “birds on a bat” logo in red, navy blue, black and yellow embroidery. Across the back is the player number “6” in red on navy blue felt. On the left sleeve is the war patch. Vintage uniform staining is present throughout the jersey. Inside the rear waistband of the pants is the Rawlings manufacturer’s tag with an attached box tag reading the size “34 REGULAR”. Adjacent is a felt strip tag reading the player name “S Musial” embroidered in script style red chain stitching. Embroidered on the outside front right zipper path is the year “43” also in red chain stitching. The belt is included. Expected vintage aging is present including staining and minor holes on the front and back. This uniform is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by a Photo-Match.com LOA confirming the match.
