The 1933 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was the first-ever All-Star Game in baseball history. It was played on July 6, 1933, at Comiskey Park. The success of the 1933 All-Star Game led to it becoming an annual event, and it has since become one of the most beloved and anticipated events in baseball. Woody English was considered one of the top shortstops of his era. Offensively, English was known for his ability to make contact and get on base. Presented here is English’s photo-matched uniform from that inaugural game. This was the only time in the history of the All-Star Game that a special non team uniform was worn. Inside the rear collar is the Spalding manufacturer’s tag. Adjacent reads “E English” embroidered as his legal name was Elwood English. Across the front reads “NATIONAL LEAGUE” and on the back is the player number “17” in navy blue felt. Also included are his pair of matching pants with the identical Spalding tagging inside the rear waistband and belt. The rarity of this uniform can not be overstated as only a handful have surfaced over the years and is in impeccable condition. This uniform is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Accompanied by a Photo-Match.com LOA.
