Harry Stuhldreher, Don Miller, Jim Crowley, and Elmer Layden were nicknamed “The Four Horsemen” in 1924 while playing for Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish backfield are one of the most noted groups of collegiate athletes in football history. This black and white photo measures approximately 9x7” and depicts the four on top of horses. All four signed in their respective areas including inscriptions “To Bengie” and in our opinion rate a combined 7. Handwritten on the bottom right corner is “Year 1924-1925” in period faded ink. Also included are two vintage Notre Dame football game tickets from November 16th, 1929 and October 11th, 1930.
