J.P. Richardson, better known as The Big Bopper, was one of the most popular musicians in the early days of rock and roll. He wrote and signed this letter to radio host Jim Blaine of KTOO Las Vegas thanking him for helping make his song “Chantilly Lace” a hit. The letter is dated October 15th, 1958 and is printed on a gray paper with the Big Bopper’s letterhead. A year after this letter was written The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly, and Ritchie Valens died in a plane crash known as “The Day the Music Died”. In our opinion the autograph rates an 8. JSA inconclusive.
