The two July 5, 1984 checks offered here are significant pieces of Americana, as they are the two checks that "Pistol" Pete Maravich wrote to Jim Bakker's Praise the Lord Ministry to purchase lifetime memberships for himself and his wife Jackie. The checks are hand-numbered 168 and 169 by Pete and are filled out in blue ink in Pete's handwriting. Each check gives $1000 to the "PTL Club" for a lifetime membership, as designated in the "Memo" section. The checks are signed "Pete Maravich" and each signature rates a 9 or more. The cancellation print runs into part of each signature but the dark signatures are barely affected by the stamping. The checks are near mint to mint and have never been folded. The check also comes with a PSA/DNA letter of authenticity.
