During the turn of the century, the Princeton Tigers were a powerhouse in college football laying the groundwork for what the game is today. On the inside front tail is the Spalding manufacturer’s tag and adjacent is a strip tag reading the player name “Tooker” handwritten in black marker. Norman Tooker was an All-American selection for the Tigers in the 1905 season. This beautiful wool sweater features the famous Princeton orange sleeve stripes as well as the Princeton “P” knitted into the left chest. There are both shoulder and elbow pads built into the jersey done in soft brown leather. There is slight separation on the shoulder pads from the jersey. In the rear waistband of the pants is the Alex Taylor Athletic Supplies manufacturer’s tag. There are custom leather knee pads built into the pants. The pants contain booties on the feet that went directly into the cleats. This uniform is in incredible condition considering its age and displays magnificently. Grey Flannel sold a similar similar jersey that was without the pants and built-in pads in December 2010 for just shy of $70,000. A rare piece that represents the history of college football. Accompanied by a LOA from Photo-Match.com grading this fantastic relic a 9+.
