This baseball has been inspected in person by Jimmy Spence of JSA. Jimmy told us that in his over twenty-five years in the hobby, he had never seen a Mantle single-signed baseball inscribed “Oklahoma Kid” nor did he have any exemplars on a baseball in his one thousand plus Mantle signatures on file. We were told by our consignor that Mickey had signed the ball for a personal friend as a favor, as Mickey did not like to sign such an inscription. The ball remained in a safety deposit box for years until our consignor was able to purchase it from Mantle’s friend. Needless to say, this baseball is extremely rare and quite possibly one of a kind. OAL Brown baseball signed on the sweet spot by Mickey Mantle who added the inscription “Oklahoma Kid” in blue ink rating a 9. Affixed to the ball is the “Mickey Mantle Museum Tom Catal” silver hologram sticker. The ball shows toning throughout and is accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
