Larry Bird was drafted sixth overall to the Boston Celtics in the 1978 NBA Draft, but continued his final season at Indiana State where he eventually lost in the NCAA Championship Game to Magic Johnson’s Michigan State Spartans. In his first season in the NBA, Bird was voted to the All-NBA First Team, All-Rookie First Team and was named Rookie of the Year. Bird averaged 21.3 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. This style of jacket was only used in Bird’s rookie era for practice. Inside on the zipper path is a “Sand-Knit” size “46” manufacturer’s tag. There’s a marking on this tag in black marker that cannot be deciphered. On the right inseam is a tag that reads “100% NYLON” with washing instructions. On the left chest is a “BOSTON CELTICS” team logo disc patch. On the right chest reads “Larry” embroidered in white stitching. Below is player number “33” in white tackle twill sewn directly onto the green jacket. This warm-up jacket is properly tagged, was presented to us as player-worn and in our opinion shows wear.
