"Pistol Pete" Maravich is still the all-time leading NCAA Division I scorer with 3,667 points scored and an average of 44.2 points per game. (All of his accomplishments were achieved before the 3 point line was introduced to NCAA basketball, and despite being unable to play varsity as a freshman under then-NCAA rules.) One of the youngest players ever inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Maravich was cited by the Hall as "perhaps the greatest creative offensive talent in history". In 1996, he was voted one of the top 50 players in NBA history. Hall of Fame, class of 1988. Inside the rear collar is the “Russell Southern” manufacturer’s tag. Attached is a white flag tag with “MARAVICH” written in black ink in equipment manager Joe O’Toole’s hand. There is also a wash code written by him. On the left breast is the team “Hawk” logo done in white on yellow tackle twill. On back is “ATLANTA” done in the same tackle twill, white on yellow. The warm-up shows wear and appears to have no alterations of any kind. It is accompanied by a photo of Maravich wearing this style jacket on the court. Please note that a correction and/or update has been made to this lot and the printed catalog differs from what is online.
