The Seattle Mariners played their first game at Safeco Field on July 15th of the 1999 season. It took Ken Griffey Jr. a few games to settle in, but the Hall of Famer cracked his first home run of the team’s new park on on July 18th with this bat. Griffey Jr. has his No. 24 retired by the Seattle Mariners franchise, led the American League in home runs four times and won an AL MVP award. Manuf: H&B, Model Number: C271, Length: 34 in., Weight: 30.6 oz., Wood: Ash with a black finish, Labeling Period: Circa 1991-96. Condition: Cracked on the handle. Ball/hit marks are present on the front and back barrel. There are blue and white ball transfer marks present on the right and front barrel. There are cleat marks on the back and left barrel. There is 7 1-4” tape on the handle in an “XXX” pattern. This bat shows outstanding overall player use attributes. Griffey Jr. signed the bat on the front barrel in silver pen with the added inscription, “First HR At Safeco” and in our opinion, rates a 7-8 overall. This bat was presented to us as game-used and shows medium use. This bat originated from Nike executives. Accompanied by a full JSA LOA and an LOA from PSA/DNA grading the bat a 9.
