Jonny Kerr is quoted saying “A young Julius Erving was like Thomas Edison, he was always inventing something new every night.” Julius Winfield Erving II was an acrobat on the court with unthinkable gold given talent that other players could only admire. It was as if Dr. James Naismith invented the game with the vision that one day someone could play as “The Doctor” did. He ranks fifth on the list of NBA & ABA Career Leaders and Records for Points (30026), won two ABA Championships, one NBA Championship, three time ABA league MVP, two time ABA Playoff MVP, one time NBA league MVP (only player in history to win league MVP for both ABA and NBA), five time ABA All-Star, eleven time NBA All-Star, two time NBA All-Star Game MVP and the list goes on. This very basketball is representative of Dr. J’s career as it is the ball he used to score his 29,000-career point. Two panels are painted with white background, and read “THE BALL WITH WHICH Julius Erving SCORED HIS 29,000th PRO CAREER POINT APRIL 11, 1986 at the SPECTRUM”. It is a “SPALDING Official NBA Game Ball” with commissioner David J. Stern’s stamped signature. The ball shows game use, takes air, and the bedizenment remains in EX condition. Accompanied by an Erving family LOA.
