Hall of Famer Dan Issel was the most prolific scorer in Kentucky basketball history. Issel poured in 53 points in a 120-85 victory over Ole Miss on February 7, 1970. He didn't miss a shot from the free-throw line, going 7-of-7 while shooting 23-of-34 from the field. The 53 points broke the school's individual game record and he also broke the school's career scoring record that night. Issel wasn't just a scoring machine though, he also grabbed 19 rebounds in the win. Offered is the actual basketball Issel used on that record breaking evening. Spalding manufactured “Official TOP-FLITE 100” basketball with a great vintage look and feel. Stamped onto one panel is “OLE MISS” and stamped onto another is “NAISMITH HALL OF FAME MEMORIAL”. Issel signed a panel in black marker with the added inscription “2/7/70 Kentucky v Ole Miss 53 points Single Game + Career Scoring Records” and in our opinion the signature rates a near 10. Also included is a wooden stand with an engraved plate that reads “OLE MISS - FEB. 1970 53 POINTS”. Accompanied by an Issel LOA and a Full JSA LOA.
