This magnificent jacket was the original one made for Wilt Chamberlain to wear at the "50 Greatest" celebration. Jeff Hamilton sent it to Wilt, who wore it on the court during the ceremonies. Wilt later felt that the sleeves were too short, and sent this one back to the design studio. They then made a new 76ers one for him. On the inside collar of the leather jacket is the "Jeff Hamilton" manufacturers label with the size "XL" and "XXL" flag tag. Inside the jacket is a leather patch that reads "This is a Limited Edition of 50 Jackets designed by Jeff Hamilton commissioned by the National Basketball Association in Honor of the Fifty Greatest Players in the History of the League February 9, 1997 Jeff Hamilton." On the left breast is the gold, red, white and blue NBA "50th" Anniversary logo leather patch. On the left sleeve is the "JH Design" leather patch. On the right sleeve is the player number "13" in yellow on purple leather patches. Across the back of the jacket is "LAKERS" in yellow on white leather patches. The jacket shows wear and has no alterations of any kind. This lot comes with an iron-clad letter of provenance from our consignor.
