Played at Anaheim Stadium in southern California, the 1989 Major League All-Star Game saw the American League defeat the National League 5-3. Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. was selected to his seventh straight All-Star Game and was the starting shortstop for the AL. Ripken went 1-for-3 with a double off Expos pitcher Tim Burke in the bottom of the fifth inning. Presented here is Ripken’s home white Orioles jersey worn during the 1989 All-Star Game. On the inside front left tail is the Rawlings manufacturer’s tag size “46” with washing instructions. Attached is a flag tag reading “SET 1 1989”. Across the front reads “Orioles”. The player number “8” appears on the front and back and across the back is the player name “RIPKEN” on a white nameplate. All numbering and lettering is done in orange on black tackle twill. On the right sleeve is the “1989 ALL-STAR GAME CALIFORNIA ANGELS” patch which is appropriately faded. Ripken signed the front of the jersey in black marker and in our opinion rates a 9. Numerous stains are present throughout. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate use. Accompanied by a Ripken LOA, a Photo-Match.com LOA and Sports Investors LOA confirming the match and a Full LOA from JSA.
