“Magic” Johnson’s fifth and final championship came at the conclusion of the 1987-88 season with a 4-2 series win over the Detroit Pistons. Perhaps the greatest guard to ever play in the NBA, Johnson is a two-time inductee into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame, a three-time MVP and Finals MVP, was named to the NBA’s 50th Anniversary Team and has his No. 32 retired by the Los Angeles Lakers. On the front left tail is a “Sand-Knit” distributor’s tag that reads, “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the LOS ANGELES LAKERS”. Below is a “Sand-Knit” size “44” manufacturer’s tag. Adjacent is a blank white strip tag, a strip tag with “2” LB” embroidered in black stitching and a white swatch with “87” embroidered in black stitching. On the right inseam is a materials tag with washing instructions. On the left chest is the official “NBA” logo embroidered. Across the chest reads, “LAKERS”, the player number “32” appears on both the front and on the back and across the back reads the player name, “JOHNSON”. All numbering and lettering are done in purple on white tackle twill sewn directly onto the gold-colored mesh jersey. All identifiers show a higher level of fraying and puckering than is normally seen on a superstar game jersey. Trim is washed out and the white borders now appear with a gray tinge. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows an extensive and excessive amount of laundering. Accompanied by an additional LOA from Alan Meza.

Please note that a correction and/or update has been made to this lot and the printed catalog differs from what is online.
