During his senior season at Louisville, Billy Thompson was part of the Cardinals squad that won the 1986 NCAA Championship. They posted a 32-7 record during that Championship season. Thompson was selected 19th overall in the 1986 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks but was part of a draft-day trade sending him to the Lakers, where he was a reserve member of the great Lakers teams that won back-to-back NBA Championships in 1986-87 and 1987-88. This size 13-1/2 Balfour 10k ring has “Billy Thompson” engraved inside. At the top of the ring is “1986 LOUISVILLE CARDINALS NCAA CHAMPIONS” surrounding a large red stone with a 20 point diamond at its center. On the right shank are “LOUISVILLE 72 DUKE 69” atop the University seal and “Metro Champs” in relief. On the left shank is “THOMPSON” along with the school “Cardinal” mascot dunking a basketball along with “32-7” in relief. The ring is in NM overall condition with a total weight of 33 grams.
