Wayne Gretzky is widely regarded as one of the greatest hockey players of all time and is often referred to as "The Great One." He played in the National Hockey League from 1979 to 1999, and during that time he set numerous records and won numerous awards. Gretzky's 1986-87 NHL season was another outstanding individual season, and he was awarded the Hart Trophy as the league's most valuable player for the seventh time in his career. During the 1986-87 season, Gretzky scored 62 goals and added 121 assists for a total of 183 points, which was the second-highest point total of his career. He led the league in assists, points, and plus-minus rating, and he helped lead the Edmonton Oilers to the best record in the league. Gretzky's performance during the 1986-87 season was widely recognized as one of the greatest offensive seasons in NHL history. In addition to winning the Hart Trophy, he also took home the Art Ross Trophy for leading the league in scoring, the Lester B. Pearson Award as the league's outstanding player as voted by his peers, and the Lady Byng Trophy for sportsmanship. This Titan manufactured “TPM 2020” stick has a faded factory date of “30 SEP 1986”. The shaft is also labeled in blue reading “99”. The handle is properly taped by Wayne himself with black bulldog, layered with white and covered with blue gauze grip tape. The blade taping is atypical for Gretzky sticks and there have been occasions where Gretzky does not tape his sticks and stick boys or equipment managers do. Although the style of taping is not typically seen, it does not take away from the appeal. The stick has the pattern code “1-002” and is unique to Gretzky’s sticks only. Accompanied by a Joe Esposito LOA.
