Roy White was the quiet leader of the Yankees in a period when their lackluster play was an embarrassing contrast to the franchise's long winning history. His consistently solid performance was finally rewarded in the mid-1970s when the club regained its winning touch. White provided a dignity beyond many of the team's more obviously talented stars. In the neck of the jersey is a gray felt patch reading "White 72 42" in blue chain stitch. The numbers denote the year and size, respectively. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" label and size, "42." Across the front of the jersey is "New York" and on the back is the player number "6." Both the name and number are made of blue felt. The front has been restored. There is an autograph on the left front which grades a solid 9. Our client obtained this jersey from Pete Sheehy many years ago. It shows game-use and with the exception of the restored front, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
