A 6' 3" guard from the University of Toledo, Jones started and ended his career with the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers, who drafted him in 1964. However, Jones would have his best years in the rival ABA. A high-scoring jump shooter, he averaged at least 22 points per game during each of his first four seasons in the league, and during one stretch with the Rockets in 1968, he scored at least 30 points in 23 consecutive games. He was also named to four ABA All-Star teams, and he was the first president of the ABA Player's Association. Upon retiring from professional basketball in 1974, Jones had tallied 10,505 combined NBA/ABA career points. On the rear inside tail is the "Rawlings" manufacturer’s size “40” tag. Adjacent is an additional wash instructions tag. Across the front is "DALLAS." Below and on back is the player number "23." Across the back is the player name “L. JONES.” All lettering and numbering is done in red on blue tackle twill. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
