Willie McCovey won the Sporting News National League player of the year award in 1969. McCovey lead the National League in power production and established career highs in home runs (45), driving in 126 rounds and batting .320. McCovey also drew a league record 45 intentional walks. The award measures 12x15” and features a portrait of McCovey. The top of the award reads “The Sporting News 1969 NATIONAL LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE YEAR” and beneath the portrait is a recap of his stats from the 1969 season. A rare offering of a Hall of Famers coveted award.
