When a ballplayer already has six World Championship rings on his fingers, a seventh one would be somewhat clumsy to wear. Therefore, an option was given to Hank Bauer and other Yankees players to receive another type of commemorative gift. This beautiful 14 karat gold Rolex watch was awarded to Bauer for the 1956 World Championship with the following inscription engraved on the back of the watch "Presented to Henry A. Bauer by the Baseball Commissioner." The face of the watch below the Rolex Oyster Perpetual identification states in red lettering "1956 World Champions." Below the dial axis is a blazing red, white and blue Yankees logo. A letter of provenance from the great Yankees outfielder accompanies this lot. While the watch is all original a matching 18 karat gold watch band was added at a later date.
