This historic Mickey Mantle award was originally sourced directly from the Mantle family. The award measures approximately 14-¾” x 11-¼” and weighs roughly 4 lbs. The award features a wooden base with brass plaques that have been hand-engraved. The upper plaque has been engraved to read “Eleventh Annual Art Griggs Memorial Award - Presented to MICKEY CHARLES MANTLE - World Champion New York Yankees - Oklahoma’s Outstanding Major League Player of the 1956 Season”. The lower plaque reads, “By Tulsa Chapter - Old Timers Baseball Association of Oklahoma - January 29, 1957”. Adjacent below is a gold-colored baseball. The trophy is in VG-EX condition and is accompanied by a LOA signed by Merlyn, David and Danny Mantle.
