Perhaps one of the most popular players in major league history, Yogi Berra was also a brilliant catcher and dominant hitter during his 19-year career with the New York Yankees. Berra was named to the American League All-Star team every year from 1948 to 1962. He topped the 100-RBI mark four years in a row and became a three-time American League MVP in a career that featured 14 league pennants and 10 World Series championships. Known for his Yogi-isms, Berra has always been a fan favorite. Following his playing career, Yogi continued in baseball as manager and coach for several teams. On the inside back of the collar is the "A.G. Spalding" manufacturers tag. Adjacent to that is an additional tag with the jersey size "44" on it. Below is a strip tag "L.Berra 52" embroidered on a small flannel patch sewn on the jersey. On the left breast is the "NY" logo, which has been restored professionally to its original condition. On the back is the all original player number "8". All lettering and numbering is done in blue felt. There is an autograph in blue maker rating an 9 on the front of the jersey. The jersey shows game use. This jersey was sent to the minors and the "NY" was removed and "Tripletts" was placed across the front. The "NY" on the front has been professionally restored and the "Tripletts" has been removed. The Yankees 50th year patch has been removed from the left sleeve. Aside from the logo restoration and patch being removed, there appears to be no alterations of any kind. The winning bidder will receive a photo that appears to match this jersey. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication.
