Manufacturer: Hillerich & Bradsby Model Number: S43 Labeling Period: 1928-30 Length: 34 inches Weight: 33 ounces Wood: Hickory Finish: Standard. This bat shows evidence of outstanding use with a handle crack that has been repaired with a single nail. Many ball and cleat marks are visible on the right, left and back barrel. The handle and left barrel have been scored. An area on the left barrel has been sanded and planed to receive factory side writing which today only “Evar.Swa” can be seen. The knob and top of the barrel have been vault marked with the model “S43”. The side written player name and return date provide impeccable provenance as to its use by the player. The handle scoring found on bats of Meusel has been seen in the PSA/DNA database which confirms the bat saw use by Meusel as well as Evar Swanson. Swanson and Meusel were teammates on the 1930 Cincinnati Reds. Accompanied by a PSA/DNA LOA grading the bat a GU 8.
